Get Involved

UChicago students with an interest in podcasting and public policy can get involved in UC3P in a variety of ways.

  • Listen now to our podcasts

  • Join a podcasting team

  • Start your own podcast

New podcasts can be published throughout the year, and podcasters produce new episodes at their own pace.

Podcasting with UC3P

UC3P supports UChicago students who want to start or join a podcast. Podcasting can be done solo, though working in a team is recommended. Below are the roles and responsibilities that UC3P recommends each team have. Editing and production trainings are offered periodically through the academic year, and one-on-one trainings can be arranged. Click the Interest Form button below to get started.

> Podcaster/Host

The host of the podcast manages the team and production cycle. Does not necessarily come to the table with all the ideas, but ideally spearheads the direction of the podcast. Interviews guests, leads discussions, etc. all from behind the microphone.

> Producer

Manages the in-studio recording process. Can be behind the mic or strictly behind the scenes. Works hand-in-hand with the podcasting and editing teams to ensure high-fidelity audio that meets or exceeds production expectations of the podcast team. Manages first cut audio and passes off to Editor/Editing team to produce final cut.

> Editor

Takes studio product and edits it into its final form. Editors should be adept with Audacity, another comparable audio editing software, or have a strong interest in gaining skills using this type of software. Opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the writing or production process are available. Preferred competencies include audio mixing for studio recordings.

> Researcher

Spearheads background research on topics, guests, and issue areas around the podcast. Provides administrative and strategic support to the rest of the podcast team. Great for those individuals who are passionate about different policy areas but might not want to be behind the microphone.
